⚠️ Broken Cross-References – Catch Missing Links Before They Cause Confusion

1 min read

In complex contracts, a single broken reference can create major confusion - or even invalidate an important clause.
Broken Cross-References helps you spot these issues instantly, ensuring your documents stay accurate and internally consistent.

🔍 What It Does

This feature automatically detects cross-references that no longer exist in the document’s provisions.

It scans for references like:

  • “See Section 12.3”
  • “Under Clause 5(b)”
  • “Pursuant to Article XI”

…and checks whether those sections, clauses, or articles actually appear in the document.

Any missing references are added to a dedicated section called Broken Cross-References for easy review.

📘 Examples

  • “See Section 99” → ❌ Section 99 not found in the document
  • “As described in Clause 12.4” → ❌ No Clause 12.4 defined
  • “Pursuant to Article XI” → ❌ Article XI missing

Why it matters

  • Ensures contracts are internally consistent.
  • Prevents reliance on non-existent provisions.
  • Saves time during review by highlighting broken links automatically.
