In complex contracts, a single broken reference can create major confusion - or even invalidate an important clause.
Broken Cross-References helps you spot these issues instantly, ensuring your documents stay accurate and internally consistent.
🔍 What It Does
This feature automatically detects cross-references that no longer exist in the document’s provisions.
It scans for references like:
- “See Section 12.3”
- “Under Clause 5(b)”
- “Pursuant to Article XI”
…and checks whether those sections, clauses, or articles actually appear in the document.
Any missing references are added to a dedicated section called Broken Cross-References for easy review.
📘 Examples
- “See Section 99” → ❌ Section 99 not found in the document
- “As described in Clause 12.4” → ❌ No Clause 12.4 defined
- “Pursuant to Article XI” → ❌ Article XI missing

Why it matters
- Ensures contracts are internally consistent.
- Prevents reliance on non-existent provisions.
- Saves time during review by highlighting broken links automatically.
